I have a number of venues that offer my art and designs POD. This means that when an order comes in, the product ordered is printed customized. This is currently the least wasteful way of selling printed products that range from clothing to home decor and personal items. There is no inventory, all items are printed only when ordered. POD is short for Print-on-Demand.
Recently I have noticed that my abstract art and designs, geometric and organic, in mainly shades of brown and black seem to attract orders more regularly than other designs by me on Redbubble, https://www.redbubble.com/people/helenatiainen/shop. Recently an art print for the wall of Brown Cocoons, https://www.redbubble.com/i/art-print/Brown-Cocoons-by-helenatiainen/36890759.C3TL5, sold in extra large size and not too long ago also a t-shirt sold with the design titled Primal Patterns in Gold and Brown and Black, https://www.redbubble.com/i/t-shirt/Primal-Patterns-in-Gold-and-Brown-and-Black-by-helenatiainen/37238736.1YYVU. Another design that has sold in this color scheme is Elegant in Black and Brown, https://www.redbubble.com/i/throw-pillow/Elegant-In-Black-and-Brown-by-helenatiainen/36878864.5X2YF. This design has been quite popular on pillow covers. And also on pillow covers in a very different color scheme, Up and Down 2, https://www.redbubble.com/i/throw-pillow/Up-And-Down-2-by-helenatiainen/30538726.YX4HZ, has been ordered. And just in time for Valentine's, Love Is Everything, https://www.redbubble.com/i/greeting-card/Love-Is-Everything-by-helenatiainen/36832432.5MT14. These are orders that have been put through on Redbubble, https://www.redbubble.com/people/helenatiainen/explore. What made me blog about these is the fact that I noticed a trend with the brown and black themes. Another one of these is Classic Floral Abstraction, https://www.redbubble.com/i/t-shirt/Classic-Floral-Abstraction-by-helenatiainen/35968456.1YYVU. And there are so many more designs and artworks by me on Redbubble in all kind of colors just waiting to be ordered printed on demand.
I have not done Google searches on what is popular when creating art and designs that can be printed on numerous products POD. All of my art so far has come from inner inspirations and not from following trends. I might benefit from paying attention to these more than I have. At this point I am about to check out how I can expand my POD market and this means I have some research to conduct. It really is a major interest for me to make my art available to anyone who wishes to purchase it in printed format even though I only get a small percentage of the sales price.
